New Staff Roles at LCMC

Danielle Verbiest has been appointed executive director; Christine Neil has been named as deputy director.

aDVerbiestDanielle Verbiest has been appointed executive director of the Literacy Council of Montgomery County (LCMC). Ms. Verbiest had previously served as the Literacy Council’s deputy director.  Prior to joining LCMC, she was assistant director of development and communications at the Montgomery Coalition for the Homeless and the development and operations manager at the Court Appointed Special Advocate Program of Montgomery County (CASA).  A native of Holland, Ms. Verbiest holds an M.A. in International Non-Governmental Organizations and a B.A. in Oriental Languages and Communication.  She is a resident of Germantown.

“Danielle has the operational and project management experience needed to ensure the Literacy Council’s ongoing success as a nonprofit organization.  Her skills in organizational management, fundraising, and working with volunteers are well-suited to the needs of the Literacy Council,” said Jim Hastings, president of LCMC’s Board of Directors.

 

aCNeilChristine Neal was named deputy director of LCMC. She began working at the Literacy Council as a lead teacher in the ESL class program, and in 2010 was hired as the management information specialist for that program.  She has taught in several adult ESL programs in the Washington metro area and has also held training and development positions for United Health Care, Cyntergy Corporation and Choice Hotels.   Christine is an adjunct instructor at Montgomery College.  She holds a Bachelors of Commerce degree from Canada and certificates in TESOL and Adult Education.
