English for Daily Living

The LCMC’s 8-week “English for Daily Living” life-skills classes give busy parents a way to learn simple contextual English in a short program conducted at their children’s school. The once/week classes of 15-20 adult learners are taught by volunteer teams of lead teachers and classroom assistants.

EFDL Lead Teacher Qualifications

  • Classroom teaching experience,
  • Experience teaching adults for whom English is a second language,
  • Enthusiasm for working with adult learners, and
  • Availability to teach eight 2-hour weekly classes.

EFDL Assistant Teacher Qualifications

  • Interest in working with adults for whom English is a second language, and
  • Availability to assist during eight 2-hour weekly classes.

Family Literacy
Plan and lead up to 8 fun literacy activities per semester for approximately 20 children.  Help plan and participate in up to 4 family literacy events during the school year.
